The Epitome of a Lady

20 x 16 oil on canvas “The Epitome of a Lady” Myrtle Foster Faulkner was a mother and grandmother remembered and adored for her gracious feminine ways. Her grandson (who was like a son to her) contacted me to see if we could capture her essence. We worked together to make a commission piece to honor her legacy.
The reference photo of her in this beautiful gown was black and white. He wanted the rich deep colors present. So we set about texting ideas. As he shared the “story of her” I was so moved. So elegant, yet humble, she lived a life of such contribution. Her children (and grandchildren) rise up to call her blessed.
