Whispers of Grace

There are moments when God seems to come tap us on the shoulder, arresting our attention.  This morning in church, we were readying for communion and the choir began singing in Latin

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem
which means:
Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us,
Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us.
Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
And while they sang, the bread and juice was offered.  Whispered words could be heard from person to person, “The body of Christ given for you.” and, “The blood of Christ shed for you.”
It was a moment that I felt God tap me on my shoulder.  The song, the whispers, the elements all formed a  Eucharistic moment as I marveled at and in the grace of God.
Agnus Dei
